2026 Ford Maverick Braked Vs. Unbraked Towing Capacity
All vehicles have different towing capacities based on whether or not you’re towing a trailer that has trailer brakes installed.
Trailer brakes allow the trailer to stop faster than if only the vehicle is using its brakes, allowing the vehicle to tow more weight, so braked towing capacity will always be higher than unbraked towing capacity.
2026 Ford Maverick Braked Towing Capacity: 2,000 – 4,000 lbs.
2026 Ford Maverick Unbraked Towing Capacity: 1,000 lbs.

2026 Ford Maverick Towing Capacity Factors
The engine type and installed towing package on the Ford Maverick are what determines whether your Maverick can tow 2,000 or 4,000 pounds.
Both the Hybrid and Ecoboost engines have a 2,000 pound towing without the 4K Towing Package installed.
Both engine variants are limited to 2,000 pounds in the FWD configuration, but the AWD versions can tow up to 4,000 pounds.
Trim level is a factor, too: even though the 2026 Maverick Tremor is an AWD Ecoboost model, it can only tow 2,000 pounds.
So this confirms that the max towing capability for an Maverick XL, XLT, and Lariat is 2,000 to 4,000 pounds depending on which engine is in it and if the towing package is installed.
We’ll get into the tow package a little later.

Can I Bumper Tow With A Ford Maverick?
The Ford Maverick does not allow for bumper towing, so you’ll need to use a frame-mounted hitch.
How Do I Know If My Ford Maverick Has A Tow Package?

You can start by looking under the rear bumper of your Maverick to see if you notice a trailer hitch or trailer ball.
That will give you a good indication of if you have a tow hitch already installed on your Maverick.
Another way to research this is by checking the paperwork that came with your vehicle or taking it to a local dealer to see what’s installed.
Make sure to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) handy if you call the dealer so they can look up the exact specs and whether or not your vehicle has any towing packages or features installed on it.
